What we do
Our ambition is to provide a good standard of accommodation in a fantastic location on the Dorset coast famous for fossil hunting, Ghost walks, Mary Anning and other interesting features that has put Lyme Regis on the map. Having arrived and parked your car on site you are just a short walk from the Marine Parade and the town centre. The town has the usual facilities, including restaurants, two small supermarkets (open ’til late) and a cinema. There are also a number of shops that are unique to the area. Lyme Regis sits on a stretch of Jurassic coast, which has been designated a UNESCO world heritage site.
Accommodation standard
The accommodation is inspected yearly and is rated three star. This is not the same as a three star hotel but is a good standard for a holiday home providing everything you require. We include bedding so there is no need to bring your own. We reinvest yearly to improve what we offer while maintaining our reasonable prices
About us
The Gables is an established and successful self-catering business. It’s location and facilities offer everything a family or group might need for a seaside holiday… including us! We have taken over the running of Gables from my parents who ran the business since 1997. So it’s still very much a family affair. My husband and I have recently returned to Lyme Regis after a decade or more living and working in Berkshire. Lyme Regis has much to offer, including a much slower and relaxed pace
Description
The Gables situated in an old part of town directly opposite St.Micheal’s church. It was once the local hospital, bequeathed to the town by the Aires family. The apartments are in three interconnected, two-storey buildings. Because we are in the town the ground floor accommodation has minimal outlook, but those on the first floor have glimpses of the sea and the famous Cobb. On-site parking is available at the rear.
Facilities
The apartments have fully equipped kitchens dining and lounge areas with digital TV and DVD’s are available and we have a good stock of films for all ages. We also have games, books and beach toys for your use. There are outside tables and chairs and we also have a guest laundry on site.
Our service
We live at The Gables and so we’re on site most of the day to greet guests and do what we can to ensure you enjoy your stay.
Details of apartments
The plans show the layout of the apartments. Each apartment is different and one will usually provide accommodation to suit your family or group requirement. They sleep from 2-6 persons. All beds are full sized except the twin beds in apartment 11and the bunk beds in flat 6 which are smaller. The bathrooms have either bath with shower over or shower only
Floor PlanElectricity and heating
All electricity including that used for heating water and space heating is provided via a £1 coin meter. Background heating is provided in the mornings and evenings. Electric fires are provided for your use.
